Where to Book the Red Lion Hotel Prague:
Prices at the Red Lion Hotel Prague can fluctuate from website to website so I recommend using Compare-Hotels.co to avoid overpaying for the Red Lion. My room night was €65 per double but the same room sells for double that on other "popular" websites so beware.
The Red Lion Hotel Prague, also goes under its Czech name "Dum U Cerveneho Lva".
Red Lion Hotel Prague - Location: At the top of Nerudova, one of Mala Strana's most important streets just underneath the castle (Hrad) it is hard to beat the Red Lion Hotel for location. The street of Nerudova is on quite a steep incline, so if you're older or really don't enjoy walking you may want to consider a hotel closer to the river if you want to stay in Mala Strana or in the Old Town or Josefov which is on the flat. Nerudova is a beautiful street offering great views of the Castle as well as Petrin Hill, the street itself is extremely touristic with souvenir shops lining the length of the street. There are a few good restaurants on Nerudova and on the evening, due to the lack of clubs, it is quiet and peaceful, perhaps too quiet and peaceful for some.
Red Lion Hotel Prague - Bedrooms: The rooms at the Red Lion Hotel are decked out with heavy dark wood furniture, all very in keeping and very bohemian. The hotel, the bedrooms especially, have a lovely old world feel. Some of the rooms have painted ceilings in a Bohemian style, the rooms are very atmospheric and large, really large. Many of the rooms come with a separate but included living area. My room came with another separate living room at no extra cost. The beds were comfortable, the satellite TV was what you would expect, a few news channels but nothing entertaining. Was disappointed to find no Czech channels at all. Mini bar was stocked basically and there was no room service. However, the size, decoration and views from my room meant I was happy without these luxuries. I also got a bathroom with a shower and a tub, great after a hard days sightseeing.
Red Lion Hotel Prague - Food
The breakfasts at the Red Lion Hotel are filling but not stunning, varied enough, there are pastries, toast, cereal, fruit and some cooked items but it's not a feast. There is a restaurant here offering a small and fair priced menu, plenty of goulash and Czech fayre but once again, not the world's best restaurant but I found it well priced, tasty and enjoyable. There are no views here, it's just a room at the back of the hotel, quiet and without natural light. So a bit dim.
Red Lion Hotel Prague - The Facilities
The hotel is a pleasant place to lay your head for the night with concierge facilities and items you may need like an iron or hairdryer available but it is not equipped with a gym, pool, room service, those facilities you may miss from home. Its a friendly, classical Prague hotel, does what it says on the tin, with oodles of atmosphere. There is limited parking and an Internet spot at the hotel. The Red Lion also offers currency exchange, transfers and a laundry service.
